- Requirements
- We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Alation Administrator to manage and support our enterprise data catalog platform. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, configuration, and support of Alation, ensuring data governance, metadata management, and user adoption across the organization. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with data stewards, business users, and technical teams to drive data discovery, lineage tracking, and self-service analytics initiatives.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain the Alation Data Catalog platform, including user access, configurations, and integration setup.
- Alation platform upgrade and Linux OS knowledge is needed
- Onboard and configure new data sources (Snowflake, Databricks, SAP, SQL Server, etc.) for metadata extraction and profiling.
- Monitor scheduled metadata extraction jobs, resolve failures, and optimize performance.
- Manage domain tagging, glossary terms, policies, and workflows within Alation.
- Configure and support Alation Analytics (AA) for usage tracking and adoption metrics.
- Partner with Data Governance, BI, and Data Engineering teams to support catalog curation and ownership assignments.
- Manage service accounts, SSO/SAML integration, and user permissions.
- Support Universal Connector or API-based ingestion of metadata from custom or unsupported tools.
- Collaborate with vendors and Alation support to troubleshoot platform issues and stay current with product releases.
