Requirement:
● We are seeking an experienced SAP Monitoring & Observability Engineer responsible for
designing, configuring, and maintaining monitoring solutions across SAP S/4HANA landscapes.
● The role focuses on SAP application performance, HANA database health, custom data provider
configuration, and proactive alerting using New Relic Monitoring for SAP Solutions (NRM4SAP).
The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance optimization, and early issue
detection across ABAP, HANA, and integration layers.

Key Responsibilities:
SAP Monitoring & Data Provider Configuration:
● We arConfigure and manage SAP data providers including:
○ MTE/CCMS-based performance metrics
○ HANA SQL-based data providers
○ RFC and table-based event providers
● Maintain and manage /NEWR/REGISTRY and /NEWR/DB_QUERIES.
● Develop and configure custom event data providers using ABAP when required.
● Enable and monitor key SAP components including:
○ ST22 application dumps
○ Delta merge operations
○ HANA system replication (HSR)
○ Backup failures
○ Work process utilization
○ Dialog response time
○ Instance availability
○ Locked users
○ IDoc processing and integration flows

SAP HANA & Performance Monitoring:
● Monitor HANA system views and database KPIs.
● Track column store growth, delta merges, memory usage, and replication lag.
● Analyze execution metrics and optimize alert thresholds.
● Differentiate between GAUGE, SUMMARY, and event-based metrics for accurate alerting.

Alerting & Observability:
● Develop NRQL queries for metrics and events.
● Design dashboards and proactive alert policies.
● Implement threshold and degradation-based alerts.
● Ensure monitoring coverage across:
○ SAP Application Servers
○ HANA Database Layer
○ Infrastructure/VM Layer

SAP Basis & Integration Collaboration:
● Coordinate with SAP Basis teams for:
○ RFC configuration (SM59)
○ Background job scheduling (SM36/SM37)
○ Role and authorization management
○ Transport management (STMS)
○ Validate SAPControl, instance status, and system services.

Required Skills & Experience:
● Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture and SAP landscape components.
● Hands-on experience with SAP monitoring transactions (ST22, SM37, ST03N, SM50, SM59).
● Knowledge of MTE classes, CCMS metrics, and custom ABAP-based monitoring.
● Experience with HANA monitoring (delta merge, replication, services, column store).
● Experience monitoring IDocs, RFC connectivity, and SAP integration components.
● Proficiency in New Relic and NRQL query development.
● Strong troubleshooting and performance analysis skills.
