Salesforce Marketing Cloud Technical Specialist

Overview

We are looking for a Technical Support Specialist in Salesforce Marketing Cloud to handle the backend and integration aspects of the platform. This role involves custom development, troubleshooting, data management, and ensuring seamless technical operations for marketing initiatives. The candidate should be technically proficient and able to bridge marketing needs with IT solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for SFMC implementations, including debugging issues in automations, journeys, and data flows.
  • Develop custom scripts using AMPscript, SSJS (ServerSide JavaScript), and GTL (Guide Template Language) for advanced personalization and logic.
  • Manage data architecture: Create and optimize Data Extensions, perform SQL queries for audience building, and handle data imports/exports.
  • Integrate SFMC with external systems via APIs (REST/SOAP), webhooks, and connectors (e.g., to Salesforce CRM, thirdparty apps like Google Analytics or ecommerce platforms).
  • Conduct performance tuning, security audits, and compliance checks (e.g., for data privacy).
  • Collaborate with campaign teams to implement technical requirements and resolve escalated issues.
  • Document technical processes, create custom solutions, and train users on technical features.

Required Skills and Tools

  • Core Skills: Strong problemsolving and debugging abilities. Knowledge of data modeling, API integrations, and automation scripting. Experience in handling large datasets and ensuring system scalability.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming/scripting (JavaScript, SQL). Understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JSON/XML). Familiarity with ETL processes and cloudbased architectures.
  • Tools/Technologies:
    • Salesforce Marketing Cloud modules: Automation Studio, Query Studio, API integrations, Contact Builder, Data Extensions.
    • Scripting: AMPscript, SSJS, GTL.
    • Integration tools: SFMC APIs (REST/SOAP), MuleSoft or similar for advanced integrations, Postman for API testing.
    • Data tools: SQL Server, ETL tools like Informatica or SFMC's own data management features.
    • Monitoring/DevOps: Version control (Git), JIRA for issue tracking, Salesforce DX for development.
    • Other: Basic knowledge of AWS/GCP for cloud integrations (if applicable).

Soft Skills

  • Excellent troubleshooting mindset, ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders, and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer or Consultant certification (required). Additional certs like JavaScript Developer or API Specialist are a plus.
  • Experience with enterpriselevel SFMC implementations and integrations.
